Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

While you're all totally engrossed in the same-sex marriage debate, it may have escaped your collective mind that there are currently two megalomaniacs threatening each other with atomic bombs.

And while one of them rules with absolute power (as evidenced by his haircut which no barber would willingly inflict on anyone), we always assumed that in a democracy the other one would be subject to strict checks and balances before being able to launch a nuclear weapon.

Unfortunately for us and our children and generations of children yet unborn, this ain't so because the President of the United States, and only the President, can decide when to launch a nuclear attack.

Perhaps now is a good time to listen to Radio National's podcast "The President and the Bomb" or go straight to ebay and buy yourself a copy of "Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb", and hope that you're included in the several hundred thousand people who will live in mineshafts until the radiation has subsided, and emerge, with a 10:1 female-to-male ratio, to repopulate the Earth.

As for me, count me out! I can barely handle one let alone ten females. Anyway, I guess the world has had enough of the Master Race!
